The INS was split into three agencies:

Adjudication of petitions and applications, as well as most services not listed below, are now part of U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization Services. 1-800-375-5283.

Border patrol and airport inspections are now done by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Immigration investigations, detentions, removals and SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) are now done by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Passports and most visas are handled by the U.S. Department of State Passport Services, and Visa Services.

Call 311 and they will tell you. It’s the city operator and they seem to know everything. You can ask for any city service and if its not city they will tell you where to go for help.

Call 211 for Los Angeles County Services.
