What is the best follow up procedure for a on-line job application?

I submitted an application on-line for a job on the 27th. I want to know how soon should I call to follow up on the application? Should I even call or wait for them to call me? If I do call what exactly do I say? This is so new to me! Eeekk!

Definitely call the company and follow up, or better yet, bring a resume to the company. Hundreds of people apply online for jobs, only to get lost in the other hundreds of online applicants. If the add specifically states, “no phone calls please,” then just show up and ask to speak with a manager about your application.

    Good luck!
