Is it necessary to follow up with a thank you note for an interview with a job recruiter?
I know one should always follow up with a thank you note when being interviewed by a prospective employer. However, what if the interview is in a job staffing agency with a job recruiter, do the same rules apply?
Also, if within that agency I was interviewed by several people, do I have to send a thank you note to each? Is it ok to email it instead of sending it by mail?
If a thank you note is required in this type of situation, what would be a good example of such a note?

I would send an email. A simple thank you for your time I look forward to working with you agency. I would make reference to the specific type of work you are interested in.
A thank you note is never a necessity, but is a great way to remind the organization who you are and reaffirm that you are interested in the job. I would send the thank you note by mail, but e-mail is also acceptable. I would address it to your main contact, but mention to pass your thanks along to the other people by name. It will make an impression that you remembered the people you spoke with.
Here is a very rough example:
Dear ____:
Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me on ____________. I enjoyed learning more about the company and am very excited about the opportunity available there. I also was delighted to meet ____________. Please pass along my thanks for taking time out of their busy day to meet with me. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding this position. Thanks again for you time and consideration.
Good Luck!
